Microsoft,
which recently opened an office in the Sultanate,
held a consumer event yesterday for its latest operating
system, the Window Vista and Microsoft Office 2007,
at The Mall in Gadong.
The event - which ran from 10 am to 10 pm - offered
an array of activities for visitors, including a colouring
competition and a musical island contest as well as
a crowd-pleasing 'WoW Hunt' competition.
Event partners, such as Brusin, Concepts Computer,
E-Prime Networks, JM-Technology and Tech Distribution,
also offered their computer and training services
at promotional prices.
Participants of any contest as well as visitors who
purchased Sony laptops or ordered a Windows Vista
and Microsoft Office 2007 pack from vendors were also
entitled to join a grand lucky draw and stood a chance
at winning a Vaio laptop, training vouchers, flasks,
caps, goodies from Concept and Brusin, and 'Spiderman
3' movie tickets.
Also on display at the event were the latest gadgetries,
top-of-the-range laptops and desktops such as the
new Sony CGC-LA38G and Dell Inspiron 9400.
Visitors
could also enrol in a training course on Window Vista
and Microsoft Office 2007 with E-Prime Networks at
a promotional price.
According to E-Prime Networks organisational development
manager Rajwati bte Awang, quite a number of public
members registered for the course amid the hype of
Microsoft Vista and Microsoft Office 2007.
Caesar Wong from Brusin said every new operating
system, including Windows Vista, has a transitional
period, during which makers of other applications
update their programmes to ensure compatibility with
the new operating system.
